Machine Gun Kelly covers Rihanna at… Marilyn Manson’s request?

by

Dia Dipasupil/WireImageWell, here’s something no one saw coming — Machine Gun Kelly performed a cover of a Rihanna song, but that’s not the shocking part. That comes in the fact that Marilyn Manson is the one who instigated the whole thing and even chose the song.

As musicians around the globe lend their talents to help raise money for COVID-19 relief efforts and entertain the many who are under lockdown or stay-at-home orders, the 30-year-old rapper is doing his part.

In a YouTube video posted to his account on Wednesday, Kelly initiates a FaceTime call with Manson.

“What’s up, dude?” he asked the rockstar before getting down to the purpose of the call. “I’m doing these covers for fun, I need a song request. What are you thinking?”

Without missing a beat Manson deadpanned, “Rihanna ‘Love On The Brain.”

Clearly caught off-guard by the unique and unsuspected song choice, Kelly responds, “What? Wow, okay.”

The two exchange  I love you’s before the “Sweet Dreams” artist instructs him to “kill it.”

The video then cuts to Kelly alone in a blue-hued room with his guitar strapped around his chest as he puts an edgy rock spin on Ri-Ri’s 2016 hit ballad.
