Dave Hogan/Getty ImagesIn a recent interview with Fox 26,  Beyoncé and Solange‘s father Mathew Knowles explained why he’s “a little bit more proud” of Solange’s career success than he is of Bey’s.

Speaking about Solange, Knowles said, “She chose to do it her way, because in the beginning we wanted to mold her into this pop star. And that is not who she is. And we were wrong. I was wrong, the record labels were wrong. And she had a record deal and she said, ‘I don’t want it.’ And she wanted to do it her own way and she did.”

And the Texas Southern University professor didn’t stop there, revealing during the chat that, contrary to rumors of friction between himself and Beyonce, he communicates with both of his famous daughters “weekly.”

“I would describe my relationship with my daughters as loving,” he says. “I don’t care what people say… just want ’em to say the wrong thing now and I’m gonna see them in court.”

Knowles is currently managing a girl groupBlush, and will unveil an international stage play based on the story of Destiny’s Child, from his perspective, later this year.

Knowles claims that actor Idris Elba will portray him in the production.
