After patching things up with Lee Daniels, Mo’Nique has made her return to her acting. Now, she’s preparing to make a comedy comeback via a new Netflix special set to air this spring.

Per a synopsis, My Name Is Mo’Nique will see “a career defining, powerhouse stand-up performance” from the comedian, filled with “laugh till you cry stories” and “soul bearing emotion.” She promises that by the show’s end, fans “will understand why she is the way she is.”

The stand-up special is slated to premiere on April 4.

Mo’Nique’s also set to star in Netflix’s The Deliverance, directed by Daniels, whom she feuded with for 13 years over accusations he blackballed her for not promoting the 2009 film Precious during awards season. She’d also claimed in a 2019 racial and discrimination lawsuit that Netflix was paying her less than other stars.

Daniels apologized to Mo’Nique, whose lawsuit against Netflix was settled. She recently made an acting return on Starz’s BMF series.
