MotownNe-Yo‘s latest hit, “She Knows” featuring Juicy J, is still holding strong on the charts. The singer tells ABC Radio that it wasn’t intended to be a stripper anthem, but a song dedicated to confident women.
“I didn’t want the song to just be viewed as a strip club song,” he explains. “Like, I knew that when I first heard the track, produced by Dr. Luke by the way, my initial thought was: ‘This sounds like a strip club, I can see my favorite stripper doing an amazing trick on the pole to this song.’ But then, me being me, and people knowing me for what they know me for, I couldn’t speak just to the strippers. I needed to do something that was going to be universal for all women.”
The singer continued, “The song is ultimately about confidence and having the kind of confidence that other people can see on you without opening your mouth. You walk into a room and everyone just goes, ‘She knows.'”
