Gabriel Olsen/Getty ImagesIt was a weekend of agony and ecstasy for Paris Jackson, who underwent surgery, and then was thrilled that her grandmother, Katherine Jackson, was able to see her perform at a charity concert.
The 20-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson tweeted that she underwent a procedure Friday, and then performed Saturday with her acoustic rock duo The Soundflowers at the Canyon Session cancer fundraiser in Los Angeles.
She commented, “I had an abscess a little bit smaller than a golfball i believe. was really hard to walk for a few days. they said i could have gone septic, which ain’t good. but i got lucky. i’m ok.”
Paris’ pain turned to joy when her 88-year-old grandmother made a rare public appearance, attended the show, and gave her approval.
“i can’t believe my grandma made it to our second live show ever. and she actually liked it!?!!!,” Paris wrote on Instagram. “i was sh****ng my pants. i love you so much grandma. i’m so happy we got to play for you and to play for such an incredible cause.”
As previously reported, Paris will join her brother Prince and her late father’s brothers Jackie, Marlon and Tito at the Michael Jackson Diamond Birthday Celebration on August 29 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The event will commemorate what would have been MJ’s 60th birthday.
