USA Today reports Williams will “produce the entire musical palette of the film,” says producer Donna Gigliotti, who reveals that the music will be inspired by Southern spirituals and girl-group harmonies. Since Janelle Monae stars in the film, Gigliotti adds that the first musical collaboration between Pharrell and Monae “will happen for sure.”

“It’s an ambitious thing, but I’m excited for the opportunity. We want people to leave (the theater) higher than the way they walked in,” says Pharrell.

The flick follows three African-American women who were involved in NASA’s Friendship 7 mission, which resulted in astronaut John Glenn becoming the first American to orbit the Earth in February 1962. Taraji P. Henson will play a mathematician named Katherine Henson, while Octavia Spencer and Monae will portray her colleagues, Dorothy Vaughn and Mary Jackson, respectively.

Hidden Figures, which also stars Kevin Costner and Kirsten Dunst, will hit theaters January 13, 2017.
