by

Columbia RecordsPharrell Williams has been tapped to perform during the Sunday service at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina.

Spokesman Dan Silberman announced that the singer’s appearance is part of a special program on race relations produced by A&E Network, which is inspired by Charleston’s reaction to the tragic shootings of nine people at the church earlier this year.

The singer’s performance will be filmed during the program, Shining Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America, airing on November 20 at 8 p.m. The two-hour simulcast event, which takes place on November 18, will include performances in Los Angeles by Jamie Foxx, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, Pink and Bruce Springsteen, among others.

“The concert will kick off A+E Networks’ campaign to confront issues of race, and promote unity and progress on racial equity, inspired by the response of the Mother Emanuel family members in Charleston and others working for reconciliation and change around the country,” a statement reads.
