Music legend Melvin Williams and his entertainment company MWE want to celebrate moms, especially African American mothers “who often go unrecognized by society for the sacrifices they may for their families.”
The traditional gospel singing legend is taking open submissions for photos that will be used in a video tribute to celebrate Mother’s Day and his song titled “My Home Is Momma’s Home.”

Williams, whose roots are in traditional gospel is an accomplished singer, songwriter and producer who started his solo music career in 1988. His was most recently nominated for an EMMY for his TV special “Melvin Williams: Down Home Gospel” that aired in over 200 PBS. He has also received 7-GRAMMY nominations, and 19-Stellar Awards over his music career.
He took to Facebook Live to invite ladies to participate in the contest:
