Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin in 2012 (Paul Morigi/WireImage)With Aretha Franklin understood to be near death, Us Weekly reports that her friend and collaborator Stevie Wonder visited the Queen of Soul at her Detroit home today. The magazine received the exclusive news from Franklin’s longtime publicist Gwendolyn Quinn.
In addition, Aretha’s ex-husband Glynn Turman, who was married to the legendary singer from 1978 to 1984, also came to see her today, as did Rev. Jesse Jackson.
An “insider” told Us Weekly on Monday, August 13, that the 76-year-old soul singer was “not doing well,” and that although she was “hanging in there…recovery is not looking likely.”
In 2017, Franklin revealed that she was working on a new album that will feature contributions from Wonder, Elton John, Lionel Richie and her longtime mentor, music mogul Clive Davis. The status of that project isn’t known.
