Saint Bodhi says her forthcoming EP, ‘Antisocial,’ speaks to her womanhood [and] my femininity

by

Darren CraigSinger, songwriter and Def Jam signee Saint Bodhi held nothing back with her 2020 EP, MAD WORLD, which was released last October. Featuring the singles, “FlowerChild” and “Blessed,” Bodhi’s 10-track effort features evocative lyrics, paired with a blend of alternative R&B, rock and hip hop sounds.

She tells ABC Audio she’s ready to follow up her exciting debut with her “wicked” new EP, Antisocial.

“I feel like I’ve matured so much since I wrote MAD WORLD,” says Bodhi. “MAD WORLD was the introduction of who I was as an adolescent and watching me go through my process as an artist.”

The Los Angeles native says Antisocial will showcase her “growth” and “show how I’m starting to become more in tune with my feelings and my womanhood..my femininity.”

“I’m really just excited about Antisocial. It’s basically another chapter of Saint Bodhi and of my story,” says the 28-year-old who’s inspired by other female lyricists such as the remarkable Nina Simone.

“Nina Simone was one of the best lyricists to me. I feel like a lot of people were jarred by her honesty and her music,” she continues. “I feel like I relate so much to Nina Simone because I will go left with my music just like Nina Simone will go left with her music.”

Bodhi said despite people who think women should be “sweet and nice,” women should always be allowed to express their views without judgment. “And it’s like no. We have real feelings and sometimes we want to talk that talk like the guys do too,” she adds.

Saint Bodhi’s Antisocial EP is expected to arrive later this year.
