RB/Bauer-Griffin/GC ImagesSean “Diddy” Combs gave a heartfelt eulogy at the funeral for his ex-girlfriend, 47-year-old actress and model Kim Porter, sharing with those in attendance that Kim helped him earlier in the year as he battled depression.
“I was really depressed, and I don’t know why, maybe it was cause I was getting older. I just went through a dark, dark time. And she would come over and make sure … we wasn’t together … She was just like, ‘Come on, Puff. You gotta get up, you gotta get up out the bed. You gotta get moving.'”
Combs and Porter, who dated for 13 years until the relationship ended amicably in 2007, shared three children together — Christian, 20, and twins Jessie James and D’Lila, 11 — raised along with Porter’s son Quincy who she had in a previous relationship with singer Al. B Sure!.
According to US Weekly, Diddy spoke for 18 minutes during the service in Columbus, Georgia, opening up about the special bond he had with Kim.
“She was my friend first. She was my confidante. She was like my guidance, still is. I was just open … We fell in love and honestly, her love was too much for me to handle. It was a lot to handle to take in,” he said.
More than a thousand mourners attended the November 24 funeral, including Mary J. Blige, Kimora Lee Simmons, Usher, DJ Khaled, NeNe Leakes, Lil Kim and Faith Evans.
