ABC/ Ida Mae AstuteContrary to recent reports, Ne-Yo‘s wife Crystal Smith confirms that she has not given birth to their second child yet.
She wrote on Instagram Wednesday, “We thank you guys all for so much love and well wishes BUT WE DIDN’T HAVE THE BABY!!”
The mix-up appears to be linked to an Instagram picture Crystal posted on Tuesday that shows her and Ne-Yo in the hospital with a baby — except that baby is the couple’s son, Shaffer Chimere Jr., who was born in 2016.
Crystal explains, “My caption stated that it was SJ’S birth pic and I was asking about having a VBAC [vaginal birth after cesarean] delivery…The blogs obviously didn’t read the caption. I’m just reaching 20 weeks and RoRo needs to grow some more before we can meet him. Check back in June for his arrival.”
She added the hashtags “#ReadingIsFundamental” and “#TotallyLoveYouGuysTho.”
In other news, the first season of Step Up: High Water, which stars Ne-Yo, is out now on YouTube Red. The TV drama is based on the Step Up movie franchise.
The series’ executive producer Adam Shankman tells Entertainment Weekly that Ne-Yo “was one of the first people” considered for the project.
“He is an absolute blessing and godsend for the show. He is the sweetest man,” says Shankman, adding, “He turned out to be an extraordinary — I mean, as the series goes on, you’re going to see his acting range just go crazy. He has huge, huge episodes and a very complicated character.”
