Solange cancels New Year’s Eve AfroPunk appearance due to autonomic disorder diagnosis

by

Carlota GuerreroSolange has pulled out of her New Year’s Eve AfroPunk gig in Johannesburg, South Africa because she’s “working through an Autonomic Disorder.”

The “Don’t Touch My Hair” singer disclosed more information Wednesday on Instagram, writing, “Still not sure what exactly or how much I want to share…”

“However it’s so important to me for the people in South Africa, a place that has tremendous meaning to me and that has given me SO SO MUCH, to know why I won’t be performing at Afro Punk this NYE.”

She continues, “The past five months I have been quietly treating, and working through an Autonomic Disorder.”

“It[‘s] been a journey that hasn’t been easy on me…It’s a complicated diagnoses [sic], and I’m still learning so much myself, but right now, my doctors are not clearing me for such an extended lengthy flight, and doing a rigorous show right after.”

Solange did not state what exact autonomic nervous disorder she has been diagnosed with.

Autonomic nervous disorders can affect the body’s nervous system, which helps to keep one’s internal organs, like the liver, kidneys and stomach, running smoothly.

There are many different types of autonomic nervous disorders, such as syncope, otherwise known as fainting.
