Summer Walker’s Over It sets history with biggest streaming week ever for a R&B album by a woman

Interscope RecordsSummer Walker is celebrating making history as her debut album, Over It, earned the biggest streaming week ever for an R&B album by a woman. 

Walker earned 154.7 million on-demand audio streams for the album’s songs, breaking the record set by Beyoncé’s Lemonade with 115.2 million in 2016. Over It is also the biggest debut album of any R&B female artist in over 10 years.

“Thank y’all so so much for the love & support. Y’all got us breaking records,” Summer commented on Instagram. “We makin’ history.”

Only one R&B album, The WeekndStarboy, with 175.2 million in 2016, earned more streams in a week.

“Over It” debuted at number one on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and number two on the Billboard 200, with 134,000 units earned.

The 23-year old vocalist will kick off her The First and Last Tour on October 26 at the Mala Luna Festival in San Antonio, Texas. The 35-city trek wraps up December 22 in her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.
