Tamar Braxton isn’t worried about winning ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.  Before she shows off her moves to “Do Your Thing” by Basement Jaxx,  the singer reveals that she doesn’t feel pressure to win just because she’s paired with season 20 champion Val Chmerkovskiy.

“No, not at all,” she tells ABC News Radio. “I’m excited to dance with Val, you know, he’s an excellent teacher, an excellent dancer and so I’m here to learn all I can and get my life.”

Although she doesn’t feel pressure, that doesn’t mean that learning the routines has come easy. The singer reveals that becoming a more refined dancer is challenging. “It’s real ballroom dancing and it’s like, not street dance at all, and you have to make sure, you know, that your posture is right,” Tamar says. “[Val] is constantly doing  this to me in my back, [saying] ‘Get your frame together,’ you know, ‘Look at your feet, what are you doing?'” She adds, “It’s a lot, but it’s a good time.”

The singer will compete against Chaka Khan, Spy Kids actress Alexa PenaVega and her husband, musician Carlos PenaVega; Backstreet Boy Nick Carter; Bindi Irwin, daughter of late Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin; jockey Victor Espinoza; and 15-year-old online star Hayes Grier.

Dancing with the Stars airs tonight, September 14 at 9 p.m. ET. There will be no eliminations this week.
