The Weeknd Earns Third Week at No. 1, Gary Clark Jr. Secures Top-10 Debut

XO/RepublicThe Weeknd continues to dominate the Billboard 200 albums chart, as his Beauty Behind the Madness earns a third straight week atop the chart.

According to the publication, the singer’s set sold an additional 99,000 equivalent album units in the week ending September 17. It’s the first album to spend three weeks at number one since Taylor Swift‘s 1989, which spent 11 non-consecutive weeks on top from the end of last 2014 through the beginning of 2015. The album has spun off two massive hits: “Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills,” and also includes “Earned It,” his song from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.

The singer took to Twitter to express his shock as the album’s success. “3 Weeks #1 . still trying to digest it. thank you XO,” the singer tweeted.

Elsewhere,  Gary Clark Jr. debuted at number eight on the chart with his latest album, The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, moving 28,000 in equivalent album units. The set marks his the second top 10 following 2012’s Blak and Blu, which debuted at number six.
