TLC’s Chilli says she’s open to collaborating with Cardi B: She is an exception to the rule

by

ABC/Heidi GutmanTLC‘s Chilli is #TeamCardiB all the way.  In an exclusive interview with People,  the nineties icon shared that she is very much considering a collaboration with the “Money Bag” rapper.

Chilli, born Rozonda Thomas, explained that she and her fellow TLC bandmate Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins typically steer away from working with other women out of respect for the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who died in a 2002 car accident.  However, she said Cardi is the “exception.”

“I don’t usually like to collaborate with females, and the reason why is because of Lisa,” Chilli told the publication. “That is just a little weird for me, personally. But I think with Cardi B, she is an exception to the rule.”

The “No Scrubs” singer added, “TLC and Cardi B all day long. We’ve gotten a lot of love from Cardi. It’s really an honor.”

While Cardi has yet to respond to Chilli’s open invitation, the Bronx-bred rapper has previously paid tribute to the iconic ’90s girl group. During her Coachella performance in April, Cardi wore a custom design inspired by TLC’s eclectic style.  She also shouted out Left Eye in a lyric on her song “Thru Your Phone.”

In addition, Cardi showed a flair for ’90s-style jams on the hit Bruno Mars “Finesse” remix.
