Tracee Ellis Ross, Gabrielle Union and more join the Buss It challenge

by

ABC/Kwaku AlstonActresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Gabrielle Union are the latest to join Erica Banks‘ “Buss It” challenge.

On Thursday, the Dallas rapper shared a collage of video submissions of Ross, Union and other women transforming into a “glammed up” version of themselves.

For the challenge, Nelly‘s song “Hot in Herre” fades into the background before the new Banks’ beat comes in and fans hit their best dance moves in a squat.

Ross had everyone fooled in her video, when she used a Triller video of a girl squatting, while shaking her head as if to say, “no, no, no.”

Meanwhile, Union ditched her glasses and black-and-white polka-dotted pajamas to appear in a cream-colored sweater dress. Regina Carter transformed from a pink onesie to a sexy black jumpsuit outlined in green.

Repping for the “slim thick” girls was social media star La La Milan, who dropped her Versace robe to reveal a black two-piece set.

Other participants in the challenge include rappers Just BrittanyDream Doll, celebrity hairstylist Tae and gospel singer Koryn Hawthorne, the latter of whom revealed a different message in her video. “Get saved, said Hawthorne, smacking the camera with the Holy bible. “Don’t make no doggone sense.”

Texas rapper Erica Banks joins the new era of female rappers taking over mainstream hip-hop. The 22-year-old said this is a “surreal moment” watching her debut single go viral on TikTok, Instagram and other social platforms.

“I’m thankful for any platform that provides exposure, especially one that emerging artists can benefit from as well,” she tells NYLON. “What the fans did with ‘Buss It’ on Tiktok will definitely be memorable for me.”
