Trump Adm. Considers Special Obamacare Enrollment Amid COVID-19 Emergency

Calls continue to grow for the Trump administration designate a special Obamacare enrollment period for the millions of Americans without health insurance during the coronavirus emergency.  Officials are said to be considering the move according to a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) official.

The official said that people should also check HealthCare.gov to see if they already qualify because they lost their job or other circumstances.

The state of  Texas leads the nation in the number of uninsured population people —  about 5 million or about 18% of the state population.

To date (3/22/20), there are  27,031 known cases of coronavirus in the United States, 349 Americans have died. 

Lobbyists for major health insurance companies support the move to open enrollment.
