Usher, Common & More Added to Global Citizen Festival

Image Courtesy RCA/SaccentiUsher and Common are among the newly added entertainers slated to take part in this year’s Global Citizen Festival, an annual event in New York City.

Billboard reports singer Tori Kelly and actresses Laverne Cox, Katie Holmes and Connie Britton also are among the guest performers added to the bill for show, which will be held September 26 on the Great Lawn in Central Park. The entertainers will serve as host committee members  at the “Global Citizen Action Hub,” where they’ll engage with fans and discuss the big issues of the day.

They’ll join previously announced headliners Beyoncé, Ed SheeranPearl Jam and Coldplay for the festive showcase, which is designed to end extreme poverty by 2030.

While the event is free, you’ll need a ticket, which you can win by visiting GlobalCitizenFestival.com where you can also learn how to take action and help the world’s poor.  When you do, you’re entered into a lottery to win a pair of tickets.  But even if you don’t score, you’ll be able to watch the concert on YouTube, MSNBC and on NBC-TV, which will air the event as a one-hour special September 27.
