We need more diversity in Hollywood but what we don’t need is Whoopi Goldberg throwing salt on the first African American to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Whoopi recently told BET that she was unclear about Viola Davis’ moving acceptance speech.
“The only thing that separates woman of color from anybody else is opportunity”
According to Huff Post in the interview Whoopi said she is not sure what that means, “Opportunity to do what?” Whoopi said there are plenty of opportunities.
I don’t find her comments helpful but maybe it’s just me.
