Baby Formula Has Been Recalled

Containers of recalled Similac (AP Photo/Mike Groll) A baby formula distributed in Iowa has been recalled after infants were hospitalized.  Abbott has said in a press release that they’ve issued a voluntary recall of Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare powdered formulas.  All of the recalled products were manufactured at a plant in Michigan. The recall was prompted after four infants were hospitalized, and one died.  The formula in question had Cronobacter sakazakii or Salmonella Newport. Anyone who uses this formula should check to see if it expires on April 1, 2022, or later. In addition, the multi-digit numbers on the bottom of the containers start with the numbers 22-37 and contain K8, SH, or Z2.  Anyone with this formula is encouraged to throw it out or contact the company.
