Houston Texans owner Bob McNair apologized for his inmates statement

Houston Texans owner Bob McNair apologized for his inmates statement. During an owners meeting about NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem, Bob McNair said, “We can’t have the inmates running the prison.” His apology reads, “I regret that I used that expression. I never meant to offend anyone and I was not referring to our players. I used a figure of speech that was never intended to be taken literally. I would never characterize our players or our league that way and I apologize to anyone who was offended by it.” Current NFL executive and former player Troy Vincent said in all his years of playing in the NFL he had been called every name you could think of, including the N-word and he never felt like an “inmate.” NFL players, including Richard Sherman have commented.
