Johnny Gill relaunches Ralph Tresvant’s solo career

by

J Skillz EntertainmentNew Edition’s lead singer Ralph Tresvant hasn’t released a solo album since 2006.  Now, 13 years later, he’s relaunching his solo career with the help of another member of the group, Johnny Gill.

Ralph is signed to Johnny’s independent label, J Skillz, and he’s featured on Gill’s latest single, “Perfect.” Johnny says he wants Ralph to enjoy success outside of the group like he has, as well as Bobby Brown, Michael Bivens, Ricky Bell and Ronnie DeVoe.

“Ralph was one of the few out of all of us that never really nurtured his career. He never went and took his brand to the level, ultimate level that we all did,” Gill tells ABC Audio. ”He just never really capitalized on his brand.”

Johnny persuaded Ralph to join his company and once again reestablish his solo identity.

“I’ve had my label since 2010, J Skillz, so it allowed me to now only just [sign] Ralph, but just some other people I’m looking at that I want to give an opportunity to, and the platform, to be able to express themselves,“ Gill adds.

No word yet on when Ralph will release his upcoming solo album. He’ll join Johnny on stage when they perform together in concert as solo artists on March 7, 2020 at The Theater at MGM National Harbor in National Harbor, Maryland.
