All American star Michael Evans Behling teases tonight’s season finale, talks being Jordan Baker

by

Tina Thorpe/The CWTonight is the season two finale of CW’s All American. Star Michael Evans Behling tells ABC Audio that preparing for his role as Jordan Baker was pretty easy, thanks to guidance he received from his on-screen dad Taye Diggs

The relationship between Behling’s Jordan and Geffri Maya’s Simone has been at the forefront for the latter half of this season, and tonight will put both in the position to decide if they’ll remain together. Simone is pregnant, but has been desperately pushing Jordan away.

At the start of the season, Jordan dealt with the aftermath of his dad Billy, played by Diggs, briefly leaving home due to his past infidelity. Jordan starts lashing out at his parents and women — until he finds out Simone’s baby isn’t his.

Behling says he and his character have a lot in common.

“Jordan and I, we connect the most on our identity and the fact that we’re both mixed kids living in a world where it’s tough to identify as black or white,” he tells ABC Audio.  “You’re mixed, and it’s hard to fit in…it has been hard, in my growing up in Columbus, where I [don’t] fit into one category, as opposed to white or black.”

Behling says he appreciates the advice that Diggs has given him on and off the set.

“The very first scene I had it was a scene with Taye,” he recalls. “It was a very emotional scene with Taye, where we’re kind of going back and forth, and he was just telling me, ‘Look, man, you’re here for a reason. So relax and just go with the flow. Enjoy it.'”

The season finale of All American airs tonight at 8 pm E.T. on the CW.
