Anthony Hamilton performing at Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony

Grammy winner Anthony Hamilton will sing at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony, which will feature the induction of Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell.

The event on September 11 in Springfield, MA, which will by hosted by sportscaster Ahmad Rashad, will be recorded for a national television broadcast.

“Being a part of this year’s Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Ceremony means a great deal to me,” Hamilton said in a statement. “Celebrating the greats of this sport is without a doubt a dream for the dreamers. Doing it on 9/11 adds even more heart-felt emotions. Thinking of the greats we lost and the legacies they left with us to hold dear gives it a whole new meaning. One of a proud people who on that day stood for something bigger than self.”

The “Charlene” singer will release his first new album in five years, Love Is the New Black, on September 24, featuring Jennifer HudsonLil Jon and Rick Ross.
