Economic Slump Expected to Continue in U.S.

by

Some of the country’s top economists are painting a grim picture for the U.S. They say America will likely be stuck in a deep economic downturn for a while. About half of the National Association of Business Economics members expect the U.S. gross domestic product (the broadest measure of the economy) won’t return to its pre-pandemic level until 2022. Most of those experts also say the U.S. job market won’t bounce back until 2022 at the earliest. Nearly 80% of the NABE economists predict there is a good chance for a “double-dip” recession. That means an economic downturn that starts to recover but then worsens again before fully recovering.

Have you lost your job in the past few months because of the ongoing pandemic?

Do you think Congress will be able to agree on another stimulus package soon?
