Courtesy of Sterling/WintersMarilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., the married singing duo who formerly fronted the Grammy-winning pop group The 5th Dimension, are working on a new studio album that will be the couple’s first major recording project in three decades.

The album will pay tribute to a variety of musical icons; full details will be unveiled next month. McCoo and Davis will debut some of their new songs at a trio of concerts taking place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles. Tickets for the shows are available via TicketWeb through McCooDavis.com and CatalinaJazzClub.com.

Besides the new material, fans coming out to the concerts can expect to hear the duo perform such classic 5th Dimension hits as “Up, Up and Away,” “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In,” “Stoned Soul Picnic,” “Wedding Bell Blues” and “Last Night (I Didn’t Get to Sleep at All),” as well as the couple’s 1977 chart-topper “You Don’t Have to Be a Star (To Be in My Show).”

The shows currently are the only confirmed gigs on McCoo and Davis’ schedule.
