ABC/Fred WatkinsCharlie Wilson‘s “In It to Win It” tour is currently underway and none other than Fantasia, along with Johnny Gill, are joining the legendary singer on the road.
Fantasia is particularly excited to entertain fans for the full length of the tour and tells ABC Radio that each show just keeps “getting better and better.”
“This is something that’s new for me right now. We have this rock-soul movement going and rock soul to me is just every genre of music. You know my inspirations are the Rolling Stones, James Brown, Tina Turner, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, so we give a little bit of everything, as well as gospel, which is where it all started for me at the age of 5 years old,” she says.
The American Idol winner also explains what a blessing it is to be included on Wilson’s tour. “Having Uncle Charlie every day bringing my and my husband in the room and giving us words of wisdom and how to build this new thing called rock soul and moving forward…it’s been a blessing,” she adds.
“It’s a show I don’t think anybody should miss because you get a little bit of everything. And you get something that a lot of people aren’t doing anymore, which is soul singing. Tina Turner, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and the list goes on. They would sing, live. And they would just take you on a musical journey and that’s what we’re doing out here with rock soul and the “In It to Win It” tour. It’s a great tour and you don’t want to miss it.”
