Hayley ScottRapper G Herbo has been charged in a federal fraud scheme for allegedly using stolen identities and credit cards to purchase more than a million dollars worth of goods and services over a four-year period.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Herbo, whose birth name is Herbert Wright III, his managerAntonio “T-Glo” Strong and four others were charged in a 14-count indictment that was made public on Wednesday.
The indictment was originally filed in the District Court in Springfield, Massachusetts in September, and includes charges for aggravated identity theft and conspiracy to commit wire fraud, among others.
Herbo and his crew allegedly used the money to pay for exotic car rentals, private jets, limousine rides and a villa in Jamaica. They also allegedly illegally charged trips and hotel rooms in Miami, Texas, New York and other states.
Records indicate Strong also allegedly used the name “Darren Geiger” in November 2017 to call an unidentified pet company in Michigan to order “two designer puppies” for Wright using a stolen credit card.
Strong was arrested by federal authorities in September and ordered back to Massachusetts by U.S. District Judge Robert Dow to face charges there. The indictment declares Strong to be a flight risk as “the ringleader of a $1.5 million fraud” by using “aliases and other people’s identities.” He also faces an additional wire fraud charge.
Chicago rapper Joseph “Joe Rodeo” Williams and alleged co-conspirators Steven Hayes Jr.,Demario Sorrells and Terrence Bender, all of Chicago, were also charged in the alleged scheme.
At the moment, it is unclear if G Herbo plans to surrender. Earlier this week, he was among the music artists selected for Forbes‘ 30 under 30 list of successful “young entrepreneurs, activists, scientists and entertainers.”
