Def Jam RecordingsJhene Aiko wants you to align your mind, body and soul with her latest offering, “Trigger Protection Mantra.”
Created to help relax listeners, the effort finds the Los Angeles songbird melding her breathy vocals with the soothing sounds of alchemy crystal bowls, which she plays herself.
The accompanying visual is even more of a chill pill: It features psychedelic images intercut with shots of the Trip singer on a beach, creating massive bubbles with a bubble wand.
“Trigger Protection Mantra” arrives nearly four months after Aiko delivered the emotional and deeply introspective ballad, “Triggered (Freestyle),” marking her second solo release of 2019. It’s not yet clear if these are standalone singles or part of a full-length project.
While there’s no word yet on when the singer intends on dropping a new album, Aiko has been busy on the performance circuit: She just headlined H.E.R.‘s inaugural Lights Out Festival.
