Earlier this year, Jennifer Hudson announced that she’s making her stage debut in a new Broadway production of The Color Purple. Now, fans are getting an advance listen to one of the show’s songs performed by the powerhouse vocalist.
To celebrate the tickets that are now on sale, you now have access a free download of Jennifer performing “Too Beautiful for Words,” one of the songs from the musical’s Tony-nominated score. The song, which is produced by six-time Grammy Award-winner Harvey Mason, Jr., is available at ColorPurple.com.
Hudson will portray the adulterous blues singer Shug Avery in the upcoming production, which will mark her Broadway debut and her first role in a theatrical musical since her Oscar-winning performance in the film adaptation of the Broadway show Dreamgirls. She will be joined by Orange is the New Black star Danielle Brooks.
The Color Purple will begin previews on Tuesday, November 10 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre in New York City and then officially open on Thursday, December 10.
