Prince Williams/WireImageIt’s been three years since Kelly Rowland has released a new album — but fans can expect the singer to complete her fifth studio album before 2017, she tells Billboard.

“I’m trying to close out the record by the end of this year. I told myself to stop [doing other things] and just finish it,” said Kelly.

“I’ve been recording but I’ve always had some hiccups in between it with other projects that I’m doing,” she added.

Besides a new album, fans of Rowland can also expect several other new ventures from the busy star, which includes a starring role in a new Lifetime television movie, The 10th Date, about the perils of dating; a new makeup line; and a brand new book she is writing.

Nzingha Stewart is directing it and we’re really excited about it. We start filming next week. It’s been really exciting,” Kelly said about the Lifetime flick. “I can’t say too much, but The 10th Date is necessary for all ladies to experience.”

As for her F.A.C.E. (For All Created Equal) makeup line, Rowland talked about the importance of creating it for black women.

“I have my own specific makeup artists now, but I remember times when I was pink or I was green or I was too pale. And I think the nature of our skin is very regal and beautiful and it should be displayed on its best. Melanin poppin’ at all times,” said Rowland.

Speaking of poppin’, Kelly promises that the book she is currently writing will also give her fans a lot to talk about in 2017.

“I’m writing a book that has not been done before. And that’s what I’m most proud of. It was just necessary,” she says.
