by

ABC RadioFollowing reports that Aretha Franklin is gravely ill, Khalid is among the stars paying tribute to the Queen of Soul.

“When I think of Aretha, I think of my mother,” the five-time Grammy nominee tells TMZ. “I think of a strong woman who’s done so much, who’s accomplished so much, achieved so much, so it’s super sad to know that she’s very sick.”

“I wish the best for her. I wish the best for her family,” Khalid continues. “She’s definitely a queen and she’s amazing, so I really feel for her.”

Meanwhile, Clive Davis, who signed Aretha to Arista Records in 1980, is organizing an all-star tribute concert to the legendary singer, according to Showbiz 411. Titled “Clive Davis Presents: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin,” the show will be held November 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

As previously reported, Stevie Wonder, Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Aretha’s ex-husband, Glynn Turman, are among those who have visited the 76-year-old singer at her home in Detroit.
