Courtesy of “Love Jones The Musical”A stage adaptation of the critically acclaimed 1997 film Love Jones has officially been announced and will include a national tour with an all star R&B cast to back it up.
The show, called Love Jones the Musical, will kick off in Oklahoma City on September 9 and boats a lineup that includes, Chrisette Michelle, Musiq Soulchild, Marsha Ambrosius, MC Lyte, Raheem Devaughn and David Hollister.
Love Jones the Musical, which will in part celebrate the 20th anniversary of the popular romantic comedy, is said to take on the essence of the film through music by fusing chart-topping hits and fan-favorite songs from music artists, along with a few original tracks.
Veteran theater producer Melvin Childs will produce while Zadia Ife is set to direct. Theodore Witcher, who was the original writer and director of Love Jones, will serve as a consulting producer.
