Mariah Carey says record-setting success of holiday hit is an incredible Christmas gift

by

Samir Hussein/WireImageMariah Carey is reacting to the recent news that “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has become the biggest holiday hit in 60 years on the Billboard Hot 100.

“It never ceases to amaze me when this song re-emerges on the Billboard charts every year,” Mariah tells Billboard. “What an incredible Christmas gift. It’s been an amazing year for me with the release of my album Caution, and this is the star on top of my Christmas tree. Thank you everyone for the support.”

As reported earlier this week, the song, originally released back in 1994, has reached #6 on the chart, making it the biggest seasonal tune since David Seville and The Chipmunks‘ “The Chipmunk Song” hit #1 back in 1968. It’s also Mariah’s biggest Hot 100 hit in 10 years.

Meanwhile, Mimi has tweeted her fans asking for the contact info for a family that’s rigged up an amazing Christmas lights display that included a massive video screen projecting a video of Mariah singing “O Holy Night.”

“Someone get me this family’s phone number so I can call and say Merry Christmas!!!” she wrote.
