Pres RodriguezMario is facing his demons in his new song, “Pain Is the New Pleasure.” Throughout the track, the singer says that stress is a distraction, but reassures himself that he can’t be taken down “without his crown.”
In the song, the singer also mentions his mother, who passed away earlier this month.
In a recent interview with Billboard, Mario tells the publication that while writing the track, he was dealing with “thoughts and feelings towards self-sabotage, self-love and the experience in relation to the material world we live in.”
He adds, “The song is really about finding true happiness and I feel like that’s something that can only come from within.”
“Pain Is the New Pleasure” is the lead single from Mario’s forthcoming album, Cosmos 17, set to arrive later this year.
