Marriage Is Scary to Me, Man: The Weeknd Talks Sex Appeal and That Hairstyle

Eric Ray Davidson exclusively for GQAlong with Chance the RapperThe Weeknd is featured on the dual cover of GQ magazine’s February issue.

The “Party Monster” artist gives his unfettered opinions on many topics, including having kids and marriage, thoughts which may catch the attention of rumored new girlfriend Selena Gomez

“I feel like I’m the kind of guy that would have kids before getting married. The first thing would be kids. Marriage is scary to me, man,” he tells the publication.

The Grammy winner doesn’t consider himself a sex symbol and prefers to fly under the radar, letting his music speak for him.

“Listen, I’m not walkin’ around like f*****’ Idris Elba, know what I mean? I’m not gonna walk into the club and be like, ‘Oh s***, I’m the sexiest guy in here.’ The reason why they want to f*** me is because of what I do [in the studio]. So I’d rather just focus on doing that,” he adds.

The Weeknd also talks about putting an end to his old, yet still memorable, hairdo, which, he explains, was both a form of self-care and a step into normality after putting the finishing touches on Starboy

“I couldn’t walk around without seeing the f*****’ Weeknd hair. That’s what I called it. I worked really hard on this album. And I felt like I need to relieve a lot of stress. [Cutting off my hair] feels good, ’cause I get to blend in. If I want to go to a club, I can just go and I’m not there. I can go to a restaurant and I’m not there,” he says.

“I look like everybody else, which is boring, but maybe I just want to look like everybody else for a bit.”
