Mary J. Blige on whether a superhero film could be in her future: I hope so!

by

ABC/Rick RowellMary J. Blige was so excited to meet the cast of Black Panther Sunday night at the Academy Awards that she’s ready to follow in their footsteps and star in a superhero movie.

Blige — who made Oscar history as the first person to be nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Song in the same year — didn’t win, but she was in great spirits after the show because she got to meeti Chadwick Boseman, and Lupita Nyong’o.

“The best moment was just seeing people you’ve never seen before and seeing people you wanted to meet. I saw some of the cast from Black Panther, which made me really excited, she told E! Online.

“It was an honor to let them know…to let Chadwick now and Lupita know…just how amazing that film is and what it means to us,” she added.”

Blige was nominated for her portrayal of Florence Jackson in Mudbone, a film set in rural Mississippi following World War II.  For her next film, though, Blige would like a much different setting — like Wakanda, for example. When asked if she could see herself in a superhero film like Black Panther, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul said, “I hope so!”
