The two-time Oscar-nominated actress has joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix original series The Umbrella Academy

The show is based on the popular comic book series of the same name, which was created and written by Gerard Way, frontman for the emo rock group My Chemical Romance.

The comics, which debuted in 2007,  follows a dysfunctional family of superheroes who must come together to solve the mystery of their father’s murder.

In the series, Mary will play Cha-Cha, described as a “ruthless and unorthodox hitwoman who travels through time to kill assigned targets.”

The Umbrella Academy is scheduled to premiere later this year.

Meanwhile, thanks to her work in the Netflix movie Mudbound, Mary is up for two Oscars at the forthcoming 90th Annual Academy Awards, airing March 4 on ABC.
