Michael Jackson fans react to HBO’s Leaving Neverland documentary

Kevin Mazur/WireImageWith HBO’s documentary Leaving Neverland again raising allegation of child sexual abuse against Michael Jackson, it’s no surprise that fans of the late star are dismissing the expose’s credibility altogether.

Following the doc’s premiere Sunday night, Jackson’s legions of supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts .

“Crazy how Michael Jackson fans on Twitter are providing more facts and research than the actual HBO documentary,” one skeptical viewer observed

“We know the truth. We won’t allow them to deceive us,” tweeted another. “We will not sit back and have them lie on an innocent man that’s not here to defend himself. We will knock them down with facts. Facts don’t lie.”

Leaving Neverland centers on the sexual abuse allegations brought by two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck. The former proteges of Jackson share in graphic detail the alleged abuses they said they endured as children at Jackson’s hands.  Many fans, however, are calling those claims into question.

“Wade Robson admitted in #MichaelJackson’s trial that he’d never been molested by Michael,” a fan tweeted shortly after part one of the doc aired. “He changed his mind and sued his estate in 2013, 4 yrs after Jackson died. He lost. Now we’re #LeavingNeverland with a one sided story because MJ can’t defend himself from the grave.”

Robson and Safechuck claim Jackson threatened them if they told the truth during the trial.

Jackson’s fans in China are leading protests against the film and calling for a boycott of HBO.

Since the announcement of Leaving Neverland, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last month, the Jackson Family has vigorously denied all sexual abuse claims, and also attempted to block HBO from airing the story.

Leaving Neverland concludes Monday night on HBO.
