OWNOprah Winfrey is making it clear she wants no part of the royal drama.
After rumors started to swirl that Winfrey, who is good friends with both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, advised the couple about breaking free from the Royal Family and “building their own brand,” Winfrey tells Page Six, that’s definitely not true.
“I care about them both and support whatever decision they make for their family,” Winfrey said in a statement to the gossip site.
“Meg and Harry do not need my help figuring out what is best for them,” she added.
As previously reported, the couple first announced on Wednesday their plan to “step back as senior members” of Britain’s royal family.
“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” they wrote in an Instagram post. “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”
Upon further investigation, ABC News learned that none of the other members of the royal family were made aware of the contents of Harry and Meghan’s statement before it was released.
