ABC/Lisa RoseOctavia Spencer is joining the Disney family.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spencer has launched her own production company, Orit Entertainment, and has signed a three-year production deal with Disney’s 20th Century Fox Television.
The deal will allow Spencer to produce television and film projects that “that inspire, uplift and most importantly, entertain,” according to a statement. Orit’s main focus will be to develop and produce shows for the studio across all genres and platforms.
Spencer partnered with an agent, Brian Clisham, on the deal, explaining in a statement that he has been “instrumental in shaping my career.”
She adds, “He has always understood my desire to work with a diverse group of talent both in front of and behind the scenes. I trust his taste and his counsel and know he will thrive in this new role. We are always on the same page and most importantly, have a lot fun!”
Spencer is also set to star in and executive-produce the eight-episode Apple drama series Truth Be Told. In addition, she’ll be seen in the forthcoming Netflix limited series Madam CJ Walker, exec-produced by LeBron James.
