ABC/Adam RoseNew York University’s graduating class of 2017 were treated to an impassioned address by superstar Pharrell Williams during their commencement ceremony at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday.

People magazine reports that the musician, who received a honorary doctorate degree at the event, focused his speech on women’s rights and accessible education for all, stating, “Your generation is unraveling deeply entrenched laws, principles and misguided values that have held women back for far too long. And therefore, have held us all back.”

Pharrell also made sure to leave students and their loved ones in attendance encouraged and ready to take on the world.

“I know that somebody out there right now in this class just might occupy the White House one day,” she said. “And let me be clear. Not red. And not blue. But maybe purple. Like NYU.”
