Rihanna Has Contacted Dancehall Artists for Her New Album

by

ABC/Lou RoccoRihanna has touched various genres with the initial singles from her upcoming album, from the guitar-led “FourFiveSeconds” to trap banger “B***h Betta Have My Money.” Now it seems Rihanna is also looking to incorporate dancehall elements into her new work as well.

Brooklyn producer Dre Skull reveals that he was contacted by Ri Ri’s label to contribute the long-awaited effort.

“I know firsthand and secondhand that she’s been reaching out to a lot of people in the dancehall world. I’m not suggesting it’s gonna be [a dancehall album] but [her people] are excited about dancehall and to work in that sort of context. They’ve reached out to Popcaan, but I’ve talked to a number of people in Jamaica that they’ve reached out to,” the hitmaker told The FADER.

Skull clarifies, “I’m not suggesting that I know what will happen, but I do know they’ve talked to a bunch of artists that I know.”

Rihanna’s highly anticipated album, tentatively titled #R8, currently has no release date.
