Shortly after releasing the song, Sevyn Streeter has issued the video for “4th Street,” in which she journeys back to her hometown of Haines City, Florida.

The video opens with Sevyn, who grew up as Amber Denise Streeter, walking down the street that she grew up on while audio from her appearance on Showtime at the Apollo with Steve Harvey plays in the background. The singer then flips through an old photo album in her childhood bedroom, reunites with neighbors and enjoys a block party with family and friends.

The singer reveals in an Instagram post that she penned the song after someone broke her heart. “I decided to focus on all the good in life,” she writes. “For me, that’s my family on 4th Street. Their love and support isn’t based on things I accumulate on this journey.”

Sevyn adds that the song isn’t her official second single, rather a glimpse into her world. “This is about me stripping down a wall and letting you in. Showing you where I’m from and the people who mean the world to me. Showing you how i turned hurt into positivity,” she adds.

“4th Street” will appear on Sevyn’s debut album, On the Verge, arriving later this year.
