In honor of International Women’s Day this Sunday, Euphoria actress Storm Reid and basketball champ Stephen Curry have teamed up for a shoe collaboration with Under Armor, helping to empower young girls behind the camera and in the classroom.
The 16-year old made the big announcement on Instagram about the Curry 7 Bamazing colorway sneaker. They’re named after Reid’s Bamazing initiative, which “aims to empower the youth by helping them nurture their inner light through self-love,” according to their official Instagram.
The initiative’s logo is featured on the shoes’ inner lining, with inspiring phrases like “Btrue,” “Bfun,” and “Bbrave.”
“I launched my Bamazing initiative with a goal to encourage young girls that they are truly capable of anything. They can and should be themselves, perfectly imperfect,” Storm said in a statement. “I think it’s so important to uplift and celebrate women in order for us all to continue to thrive.”
Proceeds from the shoe will help further opportunities for young women to reach their dreams, and support four deserving young women from Oakland, California through the annual International Women’s Day scholarship, started by Under Armour and Stephen and Ayesha Curry‘s Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation.
“I am continuing my commitment to providing a platform to empower young women in partnership with my team at Under Armour,” Stephen said. For him, the best part is that “this Curry 7 colorway celebrates young women who inspire and supports their dreams through higher education scholarships.”
Curry and Reid kicked off their shoe collaboration earlier this week, hosting a hands-on filmmaking workshop for female creatives.
