Summer Walker celebrates female artists with Power to the Women playlist

Ashley AaronsIn honor of Black History Month, Billboard has teamed up with several female artists, who have “audacious[ly]” used their music and platforms to offer strength, resiliency and courage over the last year.

To kick off its bi-weekly playlist series, Billboard tapped expectant mom and R&B singer Summer Walker.

Walker’s “Power to the Women” playlist features empowering songs from notable artists such as Solange, Jill Scott, Mary J. BligeCardi B and more, including her musical mentor Erykah Badu.

The 10-song playlist also includes a 1983 classic from the Mary Jane Girls, as well as “Girls Need Love” from Walker’s critically acclaimed mixtape, Last Days of Summer.

Walker’s “Power to the Women” playlist is currently available on Spotify and will be followed by new playlists from Black female artists each week on Mondays and Wednesdays.
