Atlantic RecordsAn Ohio venue was cited by state officials for allegedly violating COVID-19 restrictions when they hosted a Trey Songz concert Saturday night.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Ohio Investigative Unit, about 500 people were in attendance at an indoor concert at the Aftermath venue in Columbus, where officers “observed egregious violations of health orders,” including no social distancing or physical barriers. Agents also “observed patrons standing, walking freely and sharing alcoholic beverages directly from the same bottle as they were passed between groups,” while “Most of the crowd and the employees were not wearing facial coverings.”
The venue was cited for improper conduct — disorderly activities. The Ohio Investigate Unit statement says the case “will go before the Ohio Liquor Control Commission for potential penalties, including fines and/or the suspension or revocation of liquor permits.”
As of Tuesday afternoon, Trey Songz had yet to publicly address what happened at the concert. However, fans took to Twitter to give their two cents on the matter.
One fan wrote, “Ain’t no way I’m putting my life on the line for a damn Trey Songz concert,” while others had another name for the event.
“They playing “Invented Sex” by Trey Songz in this COVID testing center,” wrote a fan, while another said, “I would risk it for a football game before Trey Songz.”
Ohio currently ranks 16th in the world in total COVID-19 cases, with over 510,000 as of Tuesday afternoon, according to Johns Hopkins University. Ohio also has the 11th-highest number of coronavirus deaths in the U.S., with 7,103.
