Tyler Perry, Johnny Gill, Angie Stone and the Four Tops appearing at free tribute to Aretha Franklin tonight in Detroit

Leon Morris/Getty ImagesOver 40 stars — including Tyler Perry, Johnny Gill, Angie Stone and The Four Tops — are appearing at “A People’s Tribute to the Queen” in honor of the late Aretha Franklin beginning 6 p.m. tonight at the Chene Park Amphitheatre in Detroit.

Perry will introduce Jenifer Lewis from black-ish, who will perform a piece written for the Queen. The show will include tributes in various musical styles, including jazz, blues, gospel and R&B.

The list of artists also includes Regina Belle, Raheem DeVaughn, Dave Hollister, Angie Stone and Tweet.

Narada Michael Walden will perform the 1985 Grammy-winning hit, “Freeway of Love,” which he wrote and produced for Aretha. George Faison, the Tony-winning choreographer for The Wiz on Broadway starring Stephanie Mills, will present a special dance in honor of The Queen

Franklin’s son, Eddie, and her granddaughters Gracie and Victorie Franklin will also appear.

For the grand finale, all the performers will come together to sing Aretha’s signature song, “Respect.”

Tickets for the free event became available on Ticketmaster starting at 10 a.m., and all 6,000 seats were claimed in less than six minutes according to the Detroit Free Press.

Franklin’s funeral which will begin Friday at 10 a.m. ET. at the Greater Grace Temple in Detroit. It will be broadcast live on television and streamed online.
